Family Tree was installed in Two adjacent rooms at Danielle Arnaud Gallery, London. The OHP shines into the two mirrors and they then reflect the images into other walls and rooms . The piece is called Family Tree because all of the things are generated from one source. The oval mirror also reminds me of my mum who is small with curly hair, and the long mirror is tall and thin like my dad. One of my ancestors was an explorer so the map references that.
On the wall opposite the mantle piece, through an arch, a digital projection of the sea fills the entire wall. This film also originates from the glass on the OHP, animated by a second sheet passed over it to create slow rolling waves.
Because all of the elements were projected, things disappeared and reappeared as people moved around the space.
